21 Squadron Lockheed Ventura AE839
Ventura AE839 took off at 16.40 hrs, 5 April 1943, from Portreath as part of Ramrod 63 to attack an oil tanker at Brest. During the attack AE839 was shot up and badly damaged by both flak and Luftwaffe Fw. 190's(8/JG2). It managed to return to safe territory but was forced to ditch off Portreath, Cornwall. All crew were picked up safe within twenty minutes by fisherman
